Supreme Court rules in favor of Trump Millie Weaver  | Infowars.com  - JUNE 27, 2017   Trump’s travel ban has been heavily criticized by the left who claims that its a muslim ban. However the entire Supreme Court ruled in favor of Trump’s travel ban proving that it’s constitutional and doesn’t discriminate against Muslims. It’s interesting to note that the 6 countries on the travel ban aren’t even the countries with the highest populations of Muslims.

Google Fined Record $2.7 Billion in E.U. Antitrust Ruling By  MARK SCOTT JUNE 27, 2017 Margrethe Vestager, the European Union antitrust chief, in Brussels on Tuesday. In addition to the Google case, she has previously demanded that Apple pay $14.5 billion in back taxes in Ireland, opened an investigation into Amazon’s tax practices in Europe and raised concerns about Facebook’s dominance over people’s digital data.   Credit Emmanuel Dunand/Agence France-Presse — Getty Images  Google suffered a major blow on Tuesday after European antitrust officials fined the search giant a record $2.7 billion for unfairly favoring some of its own services over those of rivals. The penalty, of 2.4 billion euros, highlights the aggressive stance that European officials have taken in regulating many of the world’s largest technology companies, going significantly further than their American counterparts. By levying the fine against Google — more than double the previ...

The move, which follows more than seven years of investigations, threatens far-reaching ramifications not just for Google, but for the design of products and services from other increasingly dominant tech giants.  If the ruling sets a precedent that sticks, Google and other large tech firms may have to rethink how they plan to prof...

Malicious software utilizes same leaked NSA exploit used in WannaCry attack Mikael Thalen  | Infowars.com  - JUNE 27, 2017   A new ransomware outbreak utilizing a leaked NSA exploit is currently infecting computers across the globe, including those used to monitor radiation levels at Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Widely referred to as Peyta – though the attack is new and not a Peyta variant – the virus uses the same Windows SMB flaw that allowed last month’s WannaCry outbreak to spread so quickly. The malicious software, which has thus far been detected in countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, the UK and US, encrypts and alters critical system files before demanding $300 worth of Bitcoin. Amazon primed for merger battle

Image
The proposed $13.7 billion merger of Amazon and Whole Foods is primed to set off a massive lobbying effort in Washington. Amazon has been moving into new markets and seeking ways to deliver products faster to customers, including a drone fleet for local deliveries, making the Whole Foods deal just the latest example of its growing ambitions. Some industry analysts say the deal should face a relatively smooth path to federal approval because Whole Foods only represents a 1.2 percent share of the $800 billion grocery market, while Amazon only has a 0.2 percent share. Under antitrust law, regulators examine whether a deal would eliminate competition and whether consumers, through price changes and other factors, would be harmed. Amazon, which serves as both a traditional retail outlet and a platform for other sellers, has metrics more complex than just any other store.  But there may be several other factors that come into play for the review of the Amazon-Whole Foods de...

The Danger of "Public" Education

Image
The key issue in the entire discussion is simply this: shall the parent or the State be the overseer of the child? An essential feature of human life is that, for many years, the child is relatively helpless, that his powers of providing for himself mature late. Until these powers are fully developed he cannot act completely for himself as a responsible individual. He must be under tutelage. This tutelage is a complex and difficult task. From an infancy of complete dependence and subjection to adults, the child must grow up gradually to the status of an independent adult. The question is under whose guidance, and virtual "ownership" the child should be: his parents' or the State's? There is no third, or middle, ground in this issue. Some party must control, and no one suggests that some individual third party have authority to seize the child and rear it. It is obvious that the natural state of affairs is for the parents to have charge of the child. The parent...

California to list glyphosate as cancer-causing; Monsanto vows fight

Image
By  Karl Plume Glyphosate, an herbicide and the active ingredient in Monsanto Co's popular Roundup weed killer, will be added to California's list of chemicals known to cause cancer effective July 7, the state's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) said on Monday. Monsanto vowed to continue its legal fight against the designation, required under a state law known as Proposition 65, and called the decision "unwarranted on the basis of science and the law." The listing is the latest legal setback for the seeds and chemicals company, which has faced increasing litigation over glyphosate since the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer said that it is "probably carcinogenic" in a controversial ruling in 2015. Dicamba, a weed killer designed for use with Monsanto's next generation of biotech crops, is under scrutiny in Arkansas after the state's plant board voted last week to ban ...

Photographer: David Williams/Bloomberg The retailer could bring its distribution technology to the grocery chain By  Spencer Soper  and  Alex Sherman June 26, 2017, 4:00 AM PDT When Amazon.com Inc.'s $13.7 billion bid to buy Whole Foods was announced, John Mackey, the grocer's chief executive officer, addressed employees, gushing about Amazon's technological innovation.  "We will be joining a company that’s visionary," Mackey said, according to a transcript of the meeting. "I think we’re gonna get a lot of those innovations in our stores. I think we’re gonna see a lot of technology. I think you’re gonna see Whole Foods Market evolve in leaps and bounds." A major question about the acquisition is what Amazon's technology will mean for those Whole Foods' workers. Will it make their jobs obsolete? Read more

SUMMER READING: Now TSA is going to look through your books!

Image
The TSA began a new screening policy for paper products at airport checkpoints in Missouri  last month , and now the agency's branch in Sacramento, California,  is testing out  more invasive searches for books and food items. In the new system, passengers are required to take all reading material and food out of their carry-on luggage and place it in a separate bin. TSA screeners can "fan" through travelers' books to see if anything is hidden in the pages, but agency officials insist they will not pay attention to the content. Critics  have long argued passengers selected for extra screening  are not chosen as randomly as  the TSA claims , and book content — particularly of a political or religious nature — could re-ignite that debate. "It's always been a series of insults,"  said Julie  Sze , a University of California, Davis, professor who experienced the test procedure at Sacramento. "Books, magazines, food, those are like my three treas...

Texas fired back at California’s state-sponsored travel ban, with Attorney General Ken Paxton pointing out that most of the political refugees in Texas are actually from California. The travel ban, which forbids California state workers from traveling to Texas or hosting official events in the Lone Star State with public funds, was mocked by Paxton and other Texas state officials who referred to a  study revealing that most new Texans are from California . “I talk to people almost every day who made the trek from California to Texas, and without fail, they tell me their move is due to either greater job opportunities, much lower-priced housing, an escape from a left-coast political climate, or just a better quality of culture and life,” Paxton stated.
