But text messaging already going out of fashion

A California government agency wants to start taxing text messaging.
California’s Public Utilities Commission wants to tax text messages by residents to further fund existing programs which subsidize phone services for the poor.
If enacted, the tax would likely be the first in the nation. According to the Mercury News:
